During the 2017 general election Richard provided services to both the Labour Party and Momentum to help deliver cutting edge video campaigns.

At Momentum, VideoRev worked on video production as well as developing internal processes, create templates and train filmmakers which supported them to create videos that:

  • In total, videos posted by Momentum were viewed over 50 million times by 18.1 million Facebook users.

  • People of all ages watched the videos, but they were disproportionately young: 34.7% of 18-25 year old UK Facebook users viewed a video.

  • We reached a third of Facebook’s 44 million UK users including huge numbers in key marginals. In Sheffield Hallam alone, 56% of users viewed a video, including 69% of 18-25 year olds.

This social media video campaign has been widely recognised as having played a significant role in the election results.

β€œIt [the election result] is the achievement of Momentum & the social media campaign and the unorthodox style of campaigning that lots of people like us sneered at.

We were all wrong. And that is a major game changer.”
